WILLIAM J MARKWELL

William Markwell was admitted as a Barrister-at-Law and practiced predominantly in migration law from February 2001 to July 2018.

William then started the practice of WJ Markwell & Associates, Lawyers, and now practices almost exclusively in Migration Law.

William has handled numerous applications for judicial review in the Federal Circuit Court, Federal Court and the High Court of Australia with one of his most notable successes being Minister for Immigration and Citizen v Li (2013) 249 CLR 332.

William has also had carriage of a large number of applications in relation to Character and Health matters at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT).

William is also able to provide expert evidence in the Courts in relation to matters concerning migration. This may be applicable to matters in the Family Court.

As William is originally from regional Australia, he is well aware of the problems that people in regional areas face in obtaining staff. Accordingly, William has a particular interest in obtaining skilled persons from overseas who are willing and able to work in regional and remote Australia.

William is well qualified academically and intellectually having completed Bachelor degrees in both International Relations and Law, and Masters degrees in both International Relations and Law. William has just recently been conferred with a Masters Degree in Human Rights and Global Ethics from the University of Leicester in the UK.

William is also admitted in the UK being on the Roll of Solicitors in England and Wales.
